boo and poo’s land

we are in dubai right now but today is the last day of our stay time here as we are getting ready to depart for mauritius for a 5 day stay tonight before we head back to madagascar.

we have been here in dubai since october 24th and we expected to get online fairly often, but that isn’t in the case.  we have been so busy mingling with our old/new friends and following ahmed and melly’s wedding program which turned out to be very beautiful and arabian.   the wedding celebration was held in a small oasis area in the middle of the sandy desert.  it was like a page fresh off from “tales from 1001 arabian nights”

Those students (10th to 12th grade) just got back from a soccer stadium nearby. Before they go to the classes, they usually change back to their ‘blue jacket’ in their classrooms before the teachers come for the next period. No locker rooms or whatsoever for them. Also, notice that the majority of the students are female.

ive taught those kids before… the kid on the left with glasses is one of the most undisciplined students in my classes. any suggestion on how can I tame him? even in this picture he looks so innocent yet he’s always mischievous during the classes!

at the school, id say that 70 percent of the students are girls, especially when they are in high school as many parents tend to take their sons out for work. the parents do not see any reason for the boys to go through high school. the boys usually would be sent off to do some handy jobs such as construction, unloading/loading, etc. kinda sad if you ask me…

yep, you read the title correctly… i had a haircut last friday as susie kept complaining that my hair was getting too long as well as ugly, too. so i decided to get a haircut and dimby, our host, took to me to his favorite hair salon. unfortunately his usual hairdresser wasnt working that day, so i went with the one who was available. first she clipped my back head with scissors. she didnt have that electrical clipper that we all modernites are accustomed to. of course, the scissors werent that razor-sharp so several of my hair threads got pulled in a couple of times. after about 20 minutes of clipping, my head got washed and massaged for a few minutes and viola heres my fresh haircut… worth 60 cent you ask? ill let you be the judge for my haircut…

taken at Reserve Special D’Analamazaotra. There were a couple of lizard crawling over this huge ‘aloe’ like plant. They seem to be enjoying their home habitat there as their skins match well with the plants’ leaves.

this adorable creature was taken at a croc farm last week… but yesterday, we took a 3 hour trip to a national park to see the real wildlife and boy, it was very interesting trip, including the one where i got sucked by a leech there

she has been deaf since her childhood yet she never went to school nor learned any formal sign language. she can only communicate with dimby in their home signs only. but she always make us smile whenever we see her. she is always keeping herself busy by doing many house chores along with two workers. if i recall correctly, she is over 70 years old… very active lady if you ask me…
